#BlackLivesMatter - Sustainable Transformation in our Communities
Black Lives Matter Foundation is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and intervene in situations of violence inflicted on Black communities. Black Lives Matter regularly holds protests speaking out against police killings and violence against black people, and broader issues such as racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system.
#BlackLivesMatter was started as a social movement in response to the 2013 shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin and eventual acquittal of Traynon’s murderer. Since then, BLM has been helping to drive immediate improvements in the lives of Black people everywhere by combating and countering acts of violence in Black communities.
Black Lives Matter is committed to coming together to imagine and create a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic, and political power to thrive.
