Every June, millions come together to celebrate Pride and remember the Stonewall Riots. Six days of spontaneous protests resulting from the police raid of the Stonewall Inn in 1969. An event which sparked the eventual gay rights movement, and laid the foundation for what is now today’s modern LGBTQ+ movement.
Accompanied by a flurry of rainbow and glitter, Pride is a time to celebrate the freedom to be who you/he/she/them/us/they/we are, both as individuals and as a community. It’s about standing proudly together in an effort to stand up to social injustice, prejudice and hate. Pride is strength, resilience and humanity.
